As of 8/31/2020, America had about 45 times as many cases of COVID-19 per capita as South Korea and 85 times as many deaths in spite of the fact that South Korea never locked down.
Look down very near the X-axis to find lines for China, South Korea, and Taiwan. Their leaders and people had experienced potential epidemics recently, knew how to behave, and cared about others so they were never hit hard (comparatively).
